Assessment and Treatment Programs And Providers
The Health Professional Recovery Program shall refer licensees and registrants to assessment and treatment programs or providers that meet specific criteria demonstrating their clinical expertise in assessing and treating impaired health professionals.
The Health Professional Recovery Committee's policy regarding programs and individuals providing treatment services to participants in the Health Professional Recovery Program is as follows:
- HPRP staff shall refer licensee's/registrant's only to assessment and treatment programs or providers that meet the criteria for acceptability established by the committee.
- Assessment and treatment programs and providers that meet the criteria set forth by the committee shall be deemed acceptable whether or not they are located in Michigan.
- HPRP staff shall not direct or require participants to obtain services from any specific program or provider.
- HPRP staff shall monitor assessment and treatment programs and providers that have been deemed acceptable to ascertain that the programs and providers continue to comply with applicable statutes, rules, and policies.
- The HPRP staff shall discontinue referring participants to any assessment or treatment program or provider that operates in a manner that warrants change of status as an acceptable program or provider for the HPRP.
