An HPRP Therapist is a person who provides individual therapy and/or group counseling to HPRP Licensees. HPRP Therapists must be approved and on panel with the HPRP. HPRP Therapists provide individual and group interventions according to the treatment plan identified in the Licensee’s Monitoring Agreement and monitor compliance with therapy recommendations. Treatment Providers are required to provide quarterly reports on their Licensee’s progress to the HPRP. An Addictionist is an allopathic or osteopathic doctor certified by the American Society of Addiction Medicine, the Academy of Addiction Psychiatry, or the American Osteopathic Association’s Certificate of Added Qualifications in Addiction Medicine. Licensees with a substance use disorder are required to have an Addictionist. Addictionists are required to provide quarterly reports on Licensee’s progress to the HPRP. A Worksite Monitor is a person who works at the worksite with the Licensee, usually a supervisor, who knows the Licensee’s history and involvement in the HPRP. The Worksite Monitor must agree to provide quarterly reports to the HPRP regarding the Licensee’s work performance and report any concerns about the Licensee’s behavior or relapse to the HPRP. This person can also serve as a source of additional support to the Licensee. The Worksite Monitor cannot be someone who reports to the Licensee, a family member or a close friend. An HPRP Psychiatrist is a allopathic or osteopathic doctor who specializes in psychiatry. Licensees with a mental health or dual-diagnosis are required to have a psychiatrist. A Licensee’s psychiatrist and addictionist may be the same person. HPRP psychiatrists are required to provide quarterly reports on Licensee’s progress to the HPRP. A Pain Management Specialist is a person with experience and expertise dealing with chronic non-cancer pain. This person must work in with a team that uses an multi-disciplinary treatment approach medical management, mental health services and rehabilitation. The Pain Management Specialist and treatment team must to use opioids or other mood altering substances only after other modalities have failed or are deemed inappropriate or ineffective for the pain. Licensees diagnosed with chronic pain are required to have a Pain Management Specialist.
